The logo of cgil is very simple: a red square and on the upper
side there is inscription in black "CGIL". Most of the
federations flags are based on this logo.

In the flag of FILLEA down on the right side the words
"Costruzioni e Legno" means "Building and
Wood" The red background of the flags of the Trade Union
CGIL has clearly a leftist meaning.

Today's 'Independent on Sunday' newspaper has a photograph of yesterday's
demonstration in Rome. Many flags but there is one striking one
which I do not recognise and cannot find on our Italian pages. It
is red over blue separated by a broad zig-zag yellow band from
lower hoist to upper fly. It looks as though there are letters at
the upper hoist, but the picture shows the reverse and in any
case it's too small to see.
André Coutanche, 24 March 2002
This is the flag of CGIL-FNLE. CGIL stands for
"Confederazione Generale Italiana Lavoratori" and is
the largest italian workers' syndacate, left-oriented. FNLE
stands for "Federazione Nazionale Lavoratori Elettrici"
and is the CGIL section of workers in the electrical industries
and utilities.
